The warm interior of Neville House Care Home, Chapel Allerton

The kettle is always on

Neville House sits on a quiet, tree-lined avenue just a two-minute walk from the independent shops, cafes and life of Harrogate Road. It's a turn-of-the-century property with the kind of character you simply can't build anymore — high ceilings, period details, and the feeling that you've stepped into someone's family home, not an institution.

With just 22 residents, everyone here knows each other by name. There's a genuine community feel that larger homes struggle to replicate. Lisa, our manager, is passionate about one thing above all: making sure this feels like home, not just a place to stay.

We're proud to be part of Chapel Allerton — one of Leeds' most vibrant suburbs, known for its village green, independent spirit and thriving arts scene. Our residents are moments from artisan coffee shops, local bakeries and community events. But behind our front door, it's peaceful, warm and unhurried.

"You're very welcome to visit any time and the kettle is always on — so why not pop in and take a look."

Care that's shaped around you

Every person who comes through our door has their own story, their own needs, their own way of doing things. We work around that, not the other way round.

Residential care

Long-term care in a proper home, not a clinical setting. Our team provides 24-hour support with personal care, medication management and daily living — while respecting each resident's independence and routines. Single rooms, some with en-suite, with the option to bring your own furniture, pictures and ornaments.

Respite care

Sometimes families need a break, and that's nothing to feel guilty about. Our short-stay respite care gives carers time to rest, knowing their loved one is looked after properly. Whether it's a week or a month, residents join in with life here just like everyone else. Trial stays are always welcome.

Dementia care

Living with dementia doesn't mean living without joy. Our staff are trained in person-centred dementia care, focusing on what each individual can do, not what they can't. We create calm, familiar routines in a secure environment where residents feel safe, valued and understood.

Not a place to stay. A place to live.

There are two lounges to choose from. The larger one is where most of the action happens — afternoon entertainment, film screenings, lively discussions over the day's papers. The smaller lounge overlooks the garden, and it's the spot for residents who prefer a quieter cup of tea, a crossword, or simply watching the birds.

Afternoons are busy. Music appreciation, gentle exercise sessions, art, reading groups, gardening, painting and various games — there's something on most days. But we respect absolutely every resident's right to say "not today" and will happily arrange something one-to-one instead.

All meals are prepared and cooked fresh on the premises. Our kitchen team works around individual preferences and dietary needs — this isn't a canteen, it's a dining room.

Flower beds, birdsong, and afternoon sun

Step through the front gate and you're greeted by a landscaped garden that sets the tone for the whole home — well-kept, welcoming, and genuinely lovely. It's the kind of approach that puts visitors at ease before they've even rung the bell.

At the back, there's a sheltered seating area surrounded by well-established flower beds, mature shrubs and trees. In warmer months, it's the favourite spot for a cup of tea in the afternoon sun. In cooler weather, the garden-facing lounge offers the same view without the chill.

Gardening is one of our most popular activities. Residents who enjoy being hands-on can help tend the beds, while others simply enjoy being outdoors in a safe, peaceful space just minutes from the buzz of Chapel Allerton.
